Theme Based Curriculum
Our curriculum is theme based which means that each week the children explore and experience a new topic through play, language and literacy activities, math concepts, science experiments, art expression, music, movement and more. It is designed to inspire an excitement for learning.
Our group activities create open dialog and foster problem solving, confidence and discovery. Our teachers provide support through social interaction with the children and are flexible with activities to provide opportunity for teaching moments, child input and additional support when needed.
While we unfold our lessons we ask questions, the children ask questions and often are prompted to draw conclusions from our activity. Our classrooms are filled with the question “what do you think happens?” or “Where do you think it goes?” When an adult lets the child be the authority, right or wrong, that child becomes empowered. Every idea is a good idea … or no answer is entirely wrong. We just embellish their thoughts to gain the correct answer.
We also use scaffolding to build on the ideas with which they are comfortable to create bigger and more complex ideas. It is such fun watching them sparkle and shout when they “get it”.
